Great session with Kara Lambert for Romance Writers Australia virtual conference. A session I will watch over and over again, for sure!I realised what the best times to engage on social media. I’m doing that part wrong. LOL. But I also need to plan and schedule more. I’m far too ad-hoc.

Kara went right back to basics with us as we were a start up business. She worked with us to make sure the foundations were set up in a way that gave us a platform to move forward in a productive way.We felt like we were failing ourselves and our business as we were so overwhelmed with working in the business knowing full well we should be dedicating sometime to working on the business. Kara talked us through how to set achievable goals, implement them and review them.If burying our heads in the sand equates to trying somethings else then - Yes we tried other things. We were a start up business with very little practical idea about operating a business. We had an idea about things we should be doing but no experience or real understanding of what should happen and when it should happen.Two words - Direction and accountability. Kara worked with us in the beginning to get an understanding of what we did, and how we went about it. She then guided us into more coherent way of operating, giving us the ability to set the goals we want to achieve, and following up on these, making us accountable for the decisions and goals we had made. She is teaching us how to grow as business owners and to be comfortable in our capabilities as we stretch ourselves and our mindsets. Kara is one of the most valuable assets in our business.

Big shout out to Kara... I am amazed at how much you have influenced my mindset in just 30 minutes. I'm sitting here rewriting my draft email to "the client" that i wrote last week, and my goodness, I've pretty much deleted it and started again, but this time, I feel confident and justified in approaching them (even if it is via email haha).

Having an experienced sounding board. The idea of a client's buying cycle stayed with me.I needed to understand whether Facebook ads were for me. We had a conversation and she shared her own journey and related it to mine. I could then see what would or wouldn't work for my situation.Endlessly searching and not doing. You can endlessly sit online and 'learn' but in the end you just have to have a go and then iterate.She's easy to talk to and has a broad skill set - meaning its her knowledge of human psychology that is key. I love that she's real and not 'salesy'.

I learnt how to understand my audience and post things that interest them.I think i just didn't understand the whole marketing thing. I used to post things that were relevant to my business, but Kara taught me to think outside the box. Customers don't want to be bombarded with business info, they want to relate to you first, then they might be interested in what you are trying to sell.Yes i have tried other social media services, but i didn't get no where need the reach i am getting with Kara.Kara is smart, she knows what, when, how to post to get a huge reach, over 5000 is normal for her. I must admit i didn't really believe that was possible on our initial meeting, but after seeing the results for myself i am convinced this chick knows what she is talking about, hehe.

I was able to get clear on my personal and business values, understand how they compliment each other, and create a plan to reshape my business that works with my goals, vision and purpose.Fear of letting people down, and being seen as failing. Kara was able to provide me with resources, and strategies to uncover these fears; and then get comfortable with the level of discomfort that comes with it.Yes, I had invested thousands in coaching and training programs, and it was through a few simple questions that uncovered my challenges and then blocks.The level of self discovery that comes with tuning into your values, defining *your* purpose, and understanding your drivers will fertilise the seeds for your growth. Kara was able to tap into the foundations and help guide the next steps for direction in my business that work with my current position, and also my long term vision.
